UAB will host their annual Honor Band Festival December 11-13.  The links for information and applications are located below.  The deadline for applying is October 10.

UAB All-Star Marching Band Application

Students who would like to participate in the UAB All-Star Marching Band on September 13 should click on the link below and follow the instructions. Deadline for registration is Friday, August 29. There is a $50.00 charge.  The link will explain what this fee covers.  This is an event which students will register for individually. Parents will be responsible for transportation and also be responsible for their child that day. This is not a school sponsored field trip.

GHS at Trussville Updated

Call time for Friday will be 4:30.  We plan to leave at 5:00 p.m.  Students should eat dinner before they come back to the school at 4:30.  We will not be going to the concession stand.The boosters will provide a snack and drink after halftime.  Students will be wearing uniforms for the game this week. They should wear their gray band tshirt and basketball type shorts underneath their uniform.  We will be taking jackets off in the stands after we march into the stadium and after halftime. Please make sure your child has their long black socks and black band shoes. If you ordered band shoes and have not paid yet, we will need to get that in by Friday.  Make checks payable to Gardendale Band Boosters. We will provide them with gloves this week.  If they lose these gloves they will have to purchase the next pair for $5.00.  The game this week will be at the old Trussville stadium. This stadium is not at the new High School.

New Band Jerseys

We are in the process of ordering our new band jerseys for this year.  All students who play an instrument will be required to have one. Dance team and guard girls are welcome to order but are not required to. Students will be turning in their sizes during class. We stopped ordering the older type of jersey because they were difficult to find and the price had gone up to around $36.00. These new shirts will cost $10.00 for students and any parent who would like one. We will wear these in the homecoming parade, at the bonfire and other occasions. Any parent who would like one is welcome to order.  I need to know your size by 10:00 a.m. this Friday if you would like one. You can simply email me at tstarnes@jefcoed.com with your name(s) and size(s). We need to know sizes as soon as possible so that we can get the shirts ordered.

The shirt will be maroon and have GHS Band on the front.


Gardendale at Mortimer Jordan Thursday, August 21, 2014

We will be traveling to the football jamboree this Thursday at Mortimer Jordan.  Our call time is 4:30 p.m. We will leave GHS at 5:00.  We will arrive at Mortimer Jordan by 5:30.  Students will have an opportunity at that time to visit the concession stand.  They should plan to bring money if they choose to buy anything to eat or drink at the concession stand.  Our boosters will provide water once we are in the stands.  They will also provide a drink and snack after half-time.  We should be back to Gardendale around 9:30-10:00 p.m.

All permission to travel and medical forms must be turned in before your child will be allowed to board the bus.

We will wear our gray band t-shirts, khaki shorts and tennis shoes again this week. Guard and dance girls should check with their sponsor to confirm what those groups will wear.  Please make sure you have the correct footwear.

Meet the Rockets Updated Again!

The band will be performing at Meet the Rockets on Friday, August 15 at the GHS football stadium.  The call time will be 7:15 p.m. Students need to be in the band room at 7:15.  The pep rally begins at 7:45 and will last approximately 30 minutes.  There will be an $5.00 admission charged to the event- $10.00 for Pre-purchased admission and meal. Students will wear their gray band t-shirt, khaki shorts and tennis shoes. They will wear this same outfit for the football jamboree next Thursday night at Mortimer Jordan. Colorguard and dance team members will need to check with their sponsor to find out what to wear to each event.
