Fundraiser

We will begin what I believe is our last fundraiser for the year this weekend.  I will hand the brochures out to the students tomorrow.  The profit from this fundraiser will go to each students account and may be applied toward fees or the spring trip.  The fundraiser forms and money will not be due in time for this to count toward fees that are owed before the band banquet.  If your child is attending the banquet, all fees must be paid before the banquet.  The deadline for orders and money for the fundraiser is Wednesday, March 19.  Checks should be made payable to Gardendale Band Boosters.

MPA Performance TIME CHANGE and Itinerary

We will be playing at Homewood High School on Wednesday, March 12 at 12:15 p.m.  If you are able to go or are near Homewood that day, we would love to have you in the audience supporting us!  Students will need money to eat lunch in the food court at Brookwood mall.

Band Banquet Information

The Band Banquet Invitations have been handed out to your student in class last week.

The Band Banquet is Saturday March 8, 2014 at the Wynfrey Hotel. This is a great time for the students to have fun after all of their hard work. The Band Members, Color Guard, and Rockettes may attend at no cost provided that their fees have been paid and are current. The cost for non-Band members is $30 per person.

The students must RSVP by 3:00pm Friday February 14, 2014. Please send RSVP card along with any payments to Mr Starnes.

Pre-MPA Concert, MPA, Band Banquet, Spring Trip, and Sectionals

The band will present their annual Pre-MPA Concert on Thursday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium.  We will have a few people on hand to critique the band and give us some areas to improve on before we play at MPA.  We have had a small problem with some of our uniform coats so we have shipped all of them back to Stanbury at their request so that they can correct the issue.  We decided that this would be the best time to do this since we only wear the uniforms a few times during this semester.  They are very busy making uniforms during the summer and we need them more often during the fall.  Because of this, we will be wearing black dress pants, black long sleeved dress shirts, and black shoes and socks for the Pre-MPA Concert and possibly for MPA.  They can wear their band shoes or black dress shoes.

We still don't have our assigned day or time for MPA.  It will be at Homewood High School again this year.  We will most likely play on Wednesday, March 12 or possibly Thursday, March 13 around lunch time.  That could be 11:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. but I'm just not sure right now.  We should have the schedule in the next week or so.  As soon as I get it, I'll let the students know and post it here.

Each student should return their banquet RSVP card by Friday, February 14 if they plan to attend the band banquet on March 8.  Band students will be admitted for free.  However, they must have all of their band fees paid before they will be allowed to attend.  Guests are $30.00 each.

If your child is participating in our spring trip to Disney World, please make sure that your trip payments are up to date.  I will be sending the room list in by the beginning of March.  Everyone must be up to date on payments at that time.

We have had to modify our sectional schedule because of the weather and missed school days.  Alto Saxophones will rehearse on Tuesday, February 11 from 3:15-4:15.  Trumpets will rehearse on Thursday, February 13 from 3:15-4:15.  Low brass and low reeds will rehearse on Tuesday, February 18 from 3:15-4:15.
